Indian IT Industry - The Way Forward

Described as the fourth biggest concept in the universe after Creation, Time, and Communication, Information rules the functioning of the world at large and in tandem with Technology in the present generation, it promises to reach unprecedented heights in the near future. Whosoever thinks that recruitment in the IT sector had reached a point of saturation after the boom period of 2007-2008 has to revise his/ her opinion since the recruitment now is better than it was before the recession.

Having dominated the job market with the greatest number of new job additions year after year with a one and a half year slump after 2008, India’s IT and ITES industry is showing signs of stability. Recruitment has gone up from 10% to 15% this year and business analysts and consultants are in great demand. NASSCOM estimates that the Indian IT-BPO industry is slated to record a 5.5% growth and reach $ 49.7 billion by 2010. While entry level hiring is more or less need based, knowledge-based out sourcing is still going strong. Jobs are definitely back in the Indian IT industry with TCS, Infosys and WIPRO hiring more than 25000 people and announcing an average salary hike of 9% in the 3rd quarter of the financial year. TCS is scheduled to recruit around 11000 employees more, later this year. Even though the pressures of the recession will remain, many of the projects, which were deferred, will be definitely revived.

It is very difficult to imagine a world without information and technology. Information is necessary for any progress to take place and technology makes that information easier to process and implement. It is quite possible that, at times, IT will take a pause in its path of progress but it will be a halt to regulate its own speed and move forward more efficiently. As far as the IT industry in India is concerned, it has only one way to go and carry others along with it: FORWARD !!!

Orissa is progressing full steam towards robust economic development and has a good representation of IT industry present in Bhubaneswar, Orissa. The government is encouraging the setting up of the IT/Software companies and has set up couple of IT parks and Infocities to facilitate this.

It is in this context where colleges like Indic Institute of Design & Research participate to give qualitative education to its students and prepares them to be part of the IT revolution which is a vital part of the Indian economy.

Indic Institute of Design & Research is an engineering college in the vicinity of Khurda, Bhubaneswar, Orissa. It offers B.Tech degree courses in engineering education. It has been started by people who have gone from corporate and industry background to provide quality education to the next generation. Indic admits students through the JEE examination of Orissa.

Team Indic!
